In August 1951, China officially began self trial production and production of motorcycles. The trial production of five heavy military motorcycles was completed by the then Beijing Automobile Manufacturing Factory of the Chinese People's Liberation Army, and was named the Jinggangshan brand by the Central Military Commission. The car can reach a maximum speed of 110 kilometers per hour. By 1953, the annual production of Jinggangshan brand two wheeled motorcycles had exceeded 1000 units. The emergence of the Jinggangshan brand motorcycle marks a new era in China's motorcycle industry.
In the past decade, the development speed of China's motorcycle industry has been faster. In terms of product output, the annual production has grown from 49000 units in 1980 to 970000 units in 1990, and even to over 10 million units today. China has become the country with the largest production volume of motorcycles in the world, and motorcycles have become an important component of the pillar industry of China's national economy - the automotive industry.
The production and sales of China's motorcycle industry increased significantly in 2006, reaching a new historical high. The cumulative production of motorcycles throughout the year was 21.4435 million, an increase of 3.6763 million units compared to 17.7672 million units in the previous year, a year-on-year increase of 20.69%; Accumulated sales of 21.2667 million vehicles, an increase of 3.5217 million vehicles compared to 17.7451 million vehicles last year, a year-on-year increase of 19.85%. The comprehensive index of economic benefits has significantly improved, and the strong production and sales have driven rapid economic growth. In 2006, 105 motorcycle manufacturing enterprises nationwide achieved a total main business revenue of 81.629 billion yuan, an increase of 15.59% compared to the previous year, with an increase of 11.08 billion yuan; Accumulated total profit of 2.475 billion yuan; An increase of 49.81% compared to the previous year, with an increase of 823 million yuan.
After half a century of ups and downs, the Chinese motorcycle industry has formed a relatively complete production, development, and marketing system, with a considerable portion of independent intellectual property rights and a batch of branded products covering the market. Especially since the reform and opening up, the motorcycle industry has rapidly risen. After a difficult journey of initiation, development, integration, reorganization, and ups and downs, as well as the hard work of the motorcycle industry, China has now become a major motorcycle production country in the world.
